THE SMITHS
A contemporary, intimate space full of high end finishes and warm, rich tones.
KITCHEN & DINING - HARD FINISHES & SOFT FURNISHINGS
With the client’s love of colour and contrast in mind, I specified a palette of earthy, biscuit tones and dark, forest greens whilst choosing durable, functional materials for this high use area. Inspired by the client’s trips to Chicago, hard finishes were chosen to reflect the city’s historical architecture and industrial roots, adding interest through texture.
With the kitchen a focal point and social hub of the house, french wash walls created a subtle transition from this space to the dining and lounge area, through neutral tones.
Focused on craftsmanship and sustainability, tactile finishes conveyed an industrial look through a mix of concrete and brick, with timber and natural brass accents for added warmth.
Whilst the space was open plan and full of natural light, concealed lighting beneath the cabinetry and island bench created an inviting, homely environment in the evening for this young couple to entertain.
