So why Phy? The name Phy Design Studio came from a love of finding beauty in all things. This led to the Greek letter, Phi (pronounced ‘fee’), also known as The Golden Ratio, a mathematical concept used since the Ancient Greeks to identify the ideal of beauty in all things.
As a designer I place a special importance in telling a client’s story through my own lens, curating pieces which reveal a history and spark a narrative. Phy is the amalgamation of my love of design, beautiful spaces and objects of curiosity with my own identity.
I have a particular interest in specifying custom, hand crafted design and sourcing unique, sculptural or vintage pieces.

PHYLOSOPHY
PURPOSE
Phy believes in making choices with intent and purpose. Only buying the things which add value to your life, either through function or an emotional response. Invest in curating joyful or meaningful pieces over time which make your heart happy, cutting out the superfluous.
INSTINCT
With each project, I enjoy getting to know my clients and interpreting their story and aesthetic goals through my own lens. I find genuine joy in seeing the potential in things that others may overlook. Using this instinct, I enjoy challenging my clients by adding something playful or unexpected to their project. By trusting my intuition as a designer, there is less room for indecision.
CRAFTSMANSHIP
Integral to Phy is the value of craftsmanship and taking the time to know where things come from. I love to specify handmade, imperfectly beautiful and tactile pieces, shunning the mass produced. By offering clients custom, made-to-order designs, Phy Design Studio is able to contribute sustainably with the ethos of ‘buy well, buy once’.
NARRATIVE
The power of storytelling is intrinsic to the overall narrative of a project and our emotional connection to a home. I love to delve deeper into the origins of the pieces I specify, whether a pre-loved family heirloom or a rug which provides a community with an education. By layering contemporary pieces with second hand or vintage finds, an exciting dialogue forms between the two, giving them each new context and meaning.
CURIOSITY
Taught from a young age to always ask questions, I approach each project with the same curiosity, always searching for inspiration and new learning through extensive research. Naturally inquisitive, I love finding tailored solutions for clients’ needs, engaging them throughout the process and informing them with the knowledge to make purposeful decisions.
