LIVING ROOM - COLOUR & LIGHTING
The brief for this project called upon adding additional layers of lighting to suit different activities, with a focus on task and ambient lighting. Any existing artificial lighting found to be ineffective was removed and replaced with purposeful lighting choices placed at varying levels to improve the usability of the space.
New window treatments were specified to diffuse the natural light, whilst maintaining privacy in the morning and at night. As the room's function transitioned throughout the day, the lighting needed to adapt alongside it.
When choosing colour, I wanted the room to feel light during the day and cosy in the evening. Using soft furnishings and accessories to introduce accent colours, I added texture through my own curation of eclectic lighting. It was my goal to specify a mix of contemporary and vintage lighting, pieces which could be seen as objects of curiosity, elevating their functionality through sculptural forms, shape and texture.
