LIVING ROOM - INTERIOR DECORATION
A room with dual functionality for the client to use as an informal meeting room for their design business, in addition to winding down with family in the evening.
Richly toned woods, sculptural lines and statement artwork punctuate a blank canvas, taking advantage of the high ceilings and allowing the traditional architectural features of the Queenslander 1920s home to speak for themselves.
A juxtaposition of vintage and contemporary, striking forms and contrasting tones introduced through an eclectic mix of soft furnishings, custom joinery and art.
A layered space that focuses on craftsmanship, tactility and investment pieces with the ethos of ‘buy well, buy once’. Pieces have been carefully curated to reflect the Client's own aesthetic, each with their own narrative, providing a springboard for inspiration and conversation.
CREATIVE STUDIO - INTERIOR DECORATION
As a studio and office for the client’s design business, I wanted this space to feel light and uncluttered, to allow room for creative thought and inspiration.
Clean lines, sculptured forms and powder white hues provide a motivating backdrop for this newly established design studio.
With storage and functionality a high priority, I specified custom joinery to utilise the space whilst a visual board on the wall allows the client to pin design ideas. A proposed commissioned table by local artist Den Holm would provide a focal point and an area for collaboration or ideation. Ergonomic considerations were made for both a desk and office chair since the client spends most of her day working on a laptop.
With double doors connecting the two rooms, a custom steel glass door was specified to open up the floor plan, creating a transient space that can be used for both facets of the client’s business.
A colour palette of warm rust hues, chalky whites and inky tones provides contrast and depth, pulling colour from the living room to create a harmonious and balanced space.
