ASHWOOD RESIDENCE

LIVING ROOM, HALLWAY & KITCHEN - HARD MATERIAL, LIGHTING, FURNITURE, ART & OBJECT SELECTION

Inspired by my clients’ backgrounds and love of travel, I chose a colour palette to reflect a sense of their former home, growing up surrounded by aromatic spices, textiles and florals, including the magnolia as a cherished symbol. Using colour and texture, I created a look which is contemporary as an Australian home, yet pays subtle homage to my clients’ roots.

A space that feels bright and joyous yet warm and inviting with accents of olive, mustard, burnt orange and tobacco. Earthy hues throughout the home are punctuated by black lines, from the furniture down to the fixtures and fittings in the kitchen.

With sustainability in mind, I chose natural materials where possible, using a mix of timber, wool and linen. Curating a selection of handcrafted objects for each of the different zones, I created a sense of continuity through interesting forms and tactile pieces.

The result is a layered, eclectic yet contemporary space that feels lived in and allows for family and friends to gather.
